In their bid to out-xenophobe Trump, Biden and the Democratic Party elite recall George Wallace’s infamous rant after rejecting the KKK and losing the 1958 AL gov primary: “I was out-nig**red by John Patterson. And I'll tell you here and now, I will never be out-nig**ered again.”
Before he was a segregationist, George Wallace, ran in the ‘58 Dem primary as a moderate, earning an NAACP endorsement. He lost to the Klan’s candidate and took the wrong lessons away. I’ve seen Dems do this throughout my life, ever since Dukakis was clobbered as soft on crime.
Now Biden is daring Trump to a xenophobic race to the political gutter. He’s surrounded by anti-China hawks who believe Obama’s pivot to Asia was too soft. His demagogy may or may not succeed, but it will certainly bring us closer to conflict w/a nuclear power in a hostile world.
