They gave me money when I was broke, and were always there to listen to my challenges and offer solutions.
I owe those guys a lot of loyalty
We equally supported pmb at first when he got elected
I was surprised after about a year or 2 when their loyalties changed and they began to vilify him
But my own loyalty isn't so easily swayed.
Even though there was a period I became bitter, I could still see the challenges being faced and obstacles being placed in the president's way
From the media, to the NBA, oil workers, sociocultural groups, religious organisations, pastors, etc
Everyone was against
My friend's expected me to inherit their changing political ideology just because they had been helpful to me in the past
One even became a fierce enemy
The others mocked my lack of financial success whenever we were in our group
But my loyalty
Even though I still had my challenges, I could see that the direction of the country (especially with agriculture) was good.
So while I was facing problems on the home front, I also had far fewer friends I could turn to for help
One day someone called
And then I put 2 and 2 together.
These vultures we talk about in Nigeria aren't imaginary people.
They are our friends and inlaws and relatives.
The people who assisted in looting Nigeria dry are among us
They still have the funds to manipulate the media and other characters in their dastardly motives.
But we must begin to identify them
This battle will be long and it will continue
We must be prepared to fight for our country both on SM and in the real world
We must prepare to disown friends and family members who are hellbent on the old ways of corruption.
I won't be held bound to a friendship that sees nothing
I see others, who are afraid to be truthful about how things should truly be and what should count at the bottom line
They tailor their views to satisfy a particular demographic that butters their bread
I have decided to forge ahead in the direction I believe is best for my country.
What joy do I derive in foreigners mocking my countrymen because Nigeria remains undeveloped?
Why should I escape abroad while the heritage that birthed me remains in squalor?
Do citizens that helped build other developed countries have 2 heads?
Are they smarter than us?
I refuse to be discouraged. This fight is my fight.
Fighting for my country.
I won't live like cowards who believe life begins and ends with their immediate family.
This is my own tribute to the departed
Your memory, dreams and ideals will continue to live on through those you left behind.
