#Indiana #broadband update using June 2019 v1 FCC Form 477 data. This data set is known to overestimate coverage. Regardless, here is our analysis for #Indiana mapped at the Census block level. Housing units are from 2018.

#PCRDReports @IndianaOCRA @ruddscott1 1/8
Here is the 25/3 Mbps footprint by technology. Fiber (red) is on top, then cable (yellow), fixed wireless (green), and DSL (light purple). For example, if you see DSL it means those areas only have access to DSL. Fiber areas may have other technologies available as well. 2/8 Image
This map shows the inverse. Meaning, it shows areas outside (shades of orange) the 25/3 footprint (gray) by housing unit density. A darker orange area, the higher the # of housing units outside the 25/3 footprint. 3/8 Image
A similar tech map is shown but for 100/20 Mbps speeds. This speed is shown because other states are planning to upgrade to this speed as their "minimum" #broadband speed. Notice how the footprint is much smaller compared to 25/3 Mbps and is mostly fiber and cable. 4/8 Image
Again, this map shows housing units (shades of orange) outside the 100/20 footprint (gray). There are multiple pockets of "dense" areas throughout the state. 5/8 Image
Next, we identify areas in the state that had access to no providers (red) yet they had housing units/population and those areas that only had access to up to 10/1 Mbps speeds (light blue). 6/8 Image
Last but not least we show the median advertised download and upload speeds in Mbps. A darker color indicates a faster speed. Notice that the speed groups are different between download/upload. 7/8 ImageImage
