@GovParsonMO As detailed by the gov after Greitens
sheer stupidity that truly frightens.
Show me incompetence:
Parson’s claims make no sense. His
feigned ignorance surely enlightens.

@GovParsonMO @BluebirdsofMO @classEireland @EnglishTeach07 @jzikah @LottaFightLeft @PhyllisMarion7 Parson’s tweet makes it patently clear
Donald’s virus won’t soon disappear.
As Mike plays it both ways
many eyebrows we raise.
His mixed messages ring insincere.
We can vote #LIBERTY,
or vote death — we must #VOTE
like it impacts our breath. 😷

Science ain’t his forte;

1/n Short tweetstorm on our new Policy Brief which asks "How many school-age children lack internet access in Indiana?" and "what factors are associated with not having internet?" This is an important issue as we grapple with COVID.

#Indiana #broadband…
2/n We examined both ACS (regional data) and IPUMS data (micro-records) to obtain estimates of school corporation (district) rates of internet access.
3/n This is the PUMA Code (county+) levels which show the level of geographic variation of access in a more familiar way.

We've been asking for broadband for years and we're still getting nothing.

The internet was created in 1983. The World Wide Web in 1991 and Broadband right after that. So, if the internet is world wide, why can't we have broadband Nationwide?

We need last mile broadband internet now.

We are a rural district and we have examples that show we need broadband. We have people who hop with their phone in the air to get connected. They don't even joke about this in commercials. It's been decades and we've gotten nowhere?
I said this a month ago, but I feel we aren't being heard. Broadband expansion not only increases business and job growth, but also growth in population, per capita income and even GDP. It's a simple solution and yet, I still have broadband infrastructure as a legislative issue.

#Indiana #broadband update using June 2019 v1 FCC Form 477 data. This data set is known to overestimate coverage. Regardless, here is our analysis for #Indiana mapped at the Census block level. Housing units are from 2018.

#PCRDReports @IndianaOCRA @ruddscott1 1/8
Here is the 25/3 Mbps footprint by technology. Fiber (red) is on top, then cable (yellow), fixed wireless (green), and DSL (light purple). For example, if you see DSL it means those areas only have access to DSL. Fiber areas may have other technologies available as well. 2/8 Image
This map shows the inverse. Meaning, it shows areas outside (shades of orange) the 25/3 footprint (gray) by housing unit density. A darker orange area, the higher the # of housing units outside the 25/3 footprint. 3/8 Image

If Jeremy #Corbyn becomes PM on Friday 13th, here's my rundown of 13 of #Labour’s worst policies which will hurt many, not just the few.

PS. I could have chosen a completely different 13, and these are in no particular order… (thread)

1. Expropriating up to 10% of the value of corporate equity. Employee share ownership is usually a good thing, but dictating the terms would deter job creation and investment, and encourage firms to relocate overseas. More explanation here...…
2. Rent controls. Almost all economists agree that these are a bad idea and, like many of Labour’s policies, would actually end up hurting the very people they are supposed to help. And before replying ‘well, it works in Germany', read this……

As @UKLabour announce free #broadband for all - or "#BroadbandCommunism" as Tory government propaganda service the @BBC prefer to call it, here's a short THREAD on privatisation in the UK.
Privatisation has been central to the neoliberal project for decades. The 'market' goes deep into spheres of society previously insulated from business: private firms, their owners & senior managers profit from services that should be provided publicly, on the basis of need.
The objective of Thatcher's privatization was to turn British people into a nation of shareholders. It failed. Before Thatche, almost 40% of the shares in British companies were held by individuals. By 1981, it was less than 30%. When she died in 2013, it was under 12%.

#MTNL, #Airtel, #Jio, the spate of #Broadband in India. Corruption in public as well as private companies, and how privatisation doesn't help it. A thread.

This starts from about the time when MTNL/BSNL were the go-to broadband providers, and Airtel was entering the market.
We (living in New Delhi) had an MTNL landline connection, and when broadband services were just appearing, we took one. Our household was one of the earliest in the neighbourhoods to have a 'Triband' connection - a promise of IPTV + Phone + Internet on a single connection.
It was a great service. Though for it's time pricey. It was an era when Indian internet cost per mb was much higher than the rest of the world, unlike today when it is one of the cheapest. Monthly quotas were 700mb range, and we used to check for left amt

Today, #NetNeutrality protections officially expired after months of #Republican inaction on the Hill. The fight is not over. I will remain committed to policies protecting net neutrality if elected #Governor.
These include: (1) Strengthening #transparency requirements (2) Expanding #broadband access (3) Updating #ConsumerProtection rules and (4) Taking action against #antitrust violations
#Internet access and skills are a major concern for many businesses and communities in #Maryland. We need effective #leadership on these topics to keep our state at the cutting edge of modern #technology.
