The Trump admin wields huge power over the bank, but some execs are fearful of a political backlash if they cut a lucrative break to the president.
The Trump Org also wants to reduce/delay lease payments to Palm Beach County for its golf club there. It was a week late on an $88k April lease payment, according to docs reviewed by NYT.

Some county officials worry about what may happen if they dont give a break to Trump Org.

If you plan to pay attention to Tuesday's Supreme Court hearing in Trump v. Deutsche Bank, there's one document in particular you should familiarize yourself with: the 2019 subpoena that Congress sent to DB for Trump's records – and that Trump sued to quash.

Here it is.
Among the things this subpoena demands:

- DB's internal records of employee concerns about suspicious activities in Trump's accounts. (We know employees had concerns: nytimes.com/2019/05/19/bus…)

- Any evidence related to foreign entities backing DB's loans to Trump.

Anyone in the mood for a ridiculous story? I am.

It’s not about Covid or @DeutscheBank or Trump. It's definitely not investigative journalism!

It’s a little rude and pretty embarrassing, but I want to tell it now because I could use an amusing diversion.

The story takes place in Tuscany in the fall of 2011.

I was working for @WSJ in London, covering European banks. The continent was engulfed in a raging financial crisis.

The world's oldest bank – Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, founded in 1472 – was among those unraveling.
MPS, as it’s known, was doomed by reckless mismanagement and toxic derivatives, some from @DeutscheBank. (Of course there’s a Deutsche connection!)

It sounded enticing. So a colleague and I went to Siena, the ancient Italian hill town, to interview MPS executives and others.
