I love a good Director’s cut, but I’m struggling to think of any that are better than the theatrical release. There’s Blade Runner, and the Donner Superman II cut. Other than that...

I think mostly, for fans, it’s just interesting to see another version of the film, even if it’s not as good. That Thing You Do is 40 mins longer in the extended cut, as long as The Godfather, and though not better, it’s good to spend more time in that world.

Same for Aliens. Those 17 extra minutes don’t really add anything, but they’re great to watch if you love the original. Ridley Scott’s directors cut of Alien is SHORTER than the theatrical version. And it has an extra scene! He “cut out the boring bits.” #alien #aliens
