#Cooktown to #Laura isolated railway opened on 8th October 1888. Originally used steam locomotives up to the end of 1927. Then line was operated exclusively by rail motors. First RM in1917.

"Captain Cook", was the first rail motor, converted Napier road vehicle. RM80 "Endeavour " a 45 horse power petrol rail motor shortly after arrival in 1929, remained in service till line closure in 1961.
