I suppose I'm not fully capable of conveying how much the sentiments of this piece (particularly the fawning praise of China for crushing dissent online in the service of perpetuating totalitarianism!) make me want to vomit.
I've respected Jack Goldsmith for years, but he should be deeply ashamed of writing and signing his name to this piece of totalitarian filth.

Here's the thing: if you were alive and living in the "inside-the-beltway" culture in the DC area back in the '90s, you *heard* stories about Biden (usually in conjunction with nights out drinking w/Kennedy & Dodd, his two best friends in the Senate). I was TWELVE and heard them.
I've always been sort of surprised how that common Beltway lore just magically disappeared from insider knowledge. You can advance a cynical motive, or you can suggest that a changing of the guard retired certain Old Knowledge.
Guys, I know that Biden "doesn't drink" (*ahem*). But yes, they all hung out together back in the day. To be quite clear: I don't actually buy the Reade allegations, at least not yet. But the legend of Joe Biden, handsy charmer of waitresses and aides...that was a thing back then

just to get this out of the way now for all you instant twitter legal geniuses: whatever the outcome of this election in Wisconsin, it will not be overturned judicially. whatever it is, it is. let go of silly bullshit false hopes on either side.
if anyone on the internet (here, facebook, slate, breitbart, whatevz) tries to sell you a line that "subsequent court challenges will overturn the result of the race!" then please understand that THESE PEOPLE ARE KNOWINGLY LYING TO YOU. don't be a rube. this sucks, but it stands.
