Someone I know tells me that his wife is in hospital with Coronavirus for a few weeks. Birth of a child was done via c-section. He has not seen his wife in person since she was admitted nor has he seen the newborn. @NYGovCuomo, hospitals are ignoring your EOs. cc @melissadderosa
His wife uses hearing aids. The family submitted a doc from a doctor saying that for her health it is good if she has a companion; inline with the April 10 order from @HealthNYGov. No response. @RichAzzopardi, there is no reporting/enforcement when hospitals ignore the rules!
Meanwhile, the family of a 61 year old at @ORMC has gotten the end of life call but the hosptial refuses to let any family in despite the rules from @HealthNYGov (see attached).

A 56 year old called me now regarding his experience at @MountSinaiNYC. Here R my notes: He says the issue is the governor order of patients being alone; not the hospital itself. Sunday April 19 through Wednesday (2-3 days). They told him there is no bell to ping nurse’s station.
They gave him a pill or something Sunday night before going to sleep. He woke up midnight covered in own poop. He did not want to leave his bed fearing he will slip and he had no socks. He yelled for 30 minutes for help. No one came. He called his wife on a cell that
“either take me home by a Chopper or I am coming home in a box.” She called. Staff came 20 minutes later.
Monday he had no water or food. When a nurse came in to help other another patient in the room (5 in the room in total), this patient asked for water. “I am not your nurse.”

Tuesday morning he got his first tray of food. It had a yogurt or pudding; no spoon. He asked for a spoon. It never came. They took him for some test. Took hours to find a vein. He left the hospital Wed and he says he is happy to be alive. #NoPatientLeftAlone
