I remember seeing a conspiracy a few years ago that really caught my attention & made me think.
It said that Watergate was actually about retrieving the "Black Book" of blackmail against all politicians, some master list of dirt on everyone.

I haven't seen the theory again, and can't remember the specifics.
But with all of the dirt on that woman & public ire against her (on both sides of the aisle), I can't see anything other than massive blackmail being the reason she can hold so much sway-

She's not THAT rich. I mean she stole a lot of money through corruption, but not "wrath of God" level money.
