Time to thread together the threads of the #Patriots draft class. Starting with top pick, safety Kyle Dugger. A hugely versatile 99th percentile DII athlete that convinced Bill Belichick at the Senior Bowl that he could hang with NFL talent.
Second round, 60th overall: LB Josh Uche. The Michigan product's 26.1 pressure rate was best in the draft class, per @SportsInfo_SIS. Can play on or off the line. Another Senior Bowl guy.
Third round, 87th overall: LB Anfernee Jennings. Good size (6-2, 256) and length (33 7/8 inch arms) for a standup EDGE role with the #Patriots. Productive pass rusher and edge setter at Alabama. Senior Bowl x3.
Third round, 91st overall: TE Devin Asiasi. Good production in 2019 for Belichick confidant Chip Kelly at UCLA. Asiasi has the juice up the seam and quickness to uncover against linebackers between the numbers.
Third round, 101st overall: TE Dalton Keene. Top tester at the combine among tight ends in Indy. More of a project than Asiasi, but Keene played all over the formation at Virginia Tech, is great as a ball carrier, and is a physical blocker. #Patriots
Fifth round, 159th overall: K Justin Rohrwasser. 6-3, 230-pound kicker with a huge leg and a clutch gene. Rohrwasser was 14-14 in his collegiate career on kicks in the fourth quarter and overtime. Iced twice, in the rain and drills a 53-yard game-winner. #Patriots
Sixth round, 182nd overall: OG Michael Onwenu. Onwenu is a bull-dozing 344-pound guard that dominates with overpowering play strength and nimble feet for a man of his size. #Patriots
Sixth round, 195th overall: T/G Justin Herron. Herron is a clean pass protector with the foot speed to mirror edge rushers but is built more like a guard at the next level. #Patriots
Sixth round, 204th overall: LB Cassh Maluia. Half of a great duo at Wyoming with third-round pick Logan Wilson, Maluia ran a 4.53 at 248 pounds at his Pro Day. Plays fast, quick to click into the run, and athleticism to drop into coverage. #Patriots
Seventh round, 230th overall: C/G Dustin Woodard. Undersized but athletic center prospect that moves well as a run blocker in Memphis's zone-blocking scheme.
Adding the Brian Lewerke thread. The #Patriots' UDFA signing is a draftable talent at the quarterback position but a poor senior season made him available as a free agent.
#Patriots UDFA QB J'Mar Smith. Arm talent, pocket movement, and anticipatory passes are strong points.
#Patriots UDFA WR Jeff Thomas. Plays fast, even faster than 4.45 speed at combine. Explosive lateral mover and ball carrier as well. Sky is the limit if he can stay on course.
#Patriots UDFA RB J.J. Taylor. Incredible power for his size with great contact balance, elusiveness, and receiving skills.
