Oh -So close to 600k. Moving in the right direction.

3996 +ves (161,145 total)

586 HOSPITAL deaths (21,678 total) + grim community deaths
Here is a thread based in ONS data on deaths up to and including 17th April 2019. Excess deaths are massive. Highest since ONS records began. Care home deaths grim. Community deaths generally likely under reporting COVID.

Good it was announced today that care home deaths would form part of the daily briefing.
We need to pay close attention to whether ALL community deaths AND all EXCESS deaths are reported.

Testing is to be expanded
I shall be interested to see how quickly they are turned around
I attach @Egbert_PengWu cumulative graphs.

I am not sure how he intends to deal with Community deaths and excess deaths given they are proving to be such a significant consequence of COVID.

Handy graph here from @ChrisGiles_ @FT that have been doing such exceptional work on the question of excess COVID deaths.

Thanks to @grumpyfactcheck here is a further breakdown of today’s test data.
14,588 were tested under the “clinical need” heading in hospitals and PHE labs. 16.86% were +ve
Under pillar 2 (NHS/Social care done by partners and involving Amazon for delivery) 25,289 tests. Today. Any of those tests just tests posted or all completed?

6.09% +ve.
The CUMULATIVE positives amounts to over 17.5%, so suspect today incs tests posted but not completed.
A very interesting report from @EdConwaySky tonight that I attach with a lucid summary and some interesting new facts.
