DNC Media shot most of its credibility a long time ago, and lefties think hypocrisy is something only the Right can be guilty of. The one and only thing about the Biden-Reade scandal that makes them nervous is possibly losing some of the suburban single female vote.
It's important to point out the cosmic double standards of Biden vs. Kavanaugh and note how most #MeToo activists are just unprincipled political partisans, but the only relevant data point in the 2020 election is that single woman vote. Dems will panic if that starts moving.
The whole strategy Dems are playing right now to protect Biden is shoring up their control of the media and hammering out narratives that will keep single women from bolting. They believe that demographic hates Trump so much that they have room to maneuver.
That's one reason for the especially ridiculous "Republicans pounce" media framework on the Reade story. They think they can keep the single female vote stable if they can make this look like a pure political hit on Biden, cadge a little sympathy for him as the REAL victim here.
A lot of people on the right snort in derision at the idea DNC Media could bury the Reade story, not in this age of alternative media. It's true they've lost most of their power to bury stories that harm Democrats... but not with the single female voting demographic.
That's a group that doesn't read a whole lot of alt-media. Their social media feeds tend to be echo chambers for mainstream media narratives. Dems work very hard to keep them on the reservation. They MIGHT just be able to bubble single suburban women from the Reade story.
That's why DNC Media and rabid online left is working so hard to keep the Reade scandal from getting any oxygen at all. It looks silly and futile until you remember there is one particular demographic they're worried about, and they DO control most of its oxygen supply. /end
