So what's up with a white nationalist-controlled org endorsing all these candidates -- many of them people of color -- anyway?
As he argued on the "The Right Voice" podcast last year, Doles believes that organizing broader coalitions can create opportunities for his movement.

Here's Chester Doles telling a white supremacist internet friend that the common denominator between the APUSA-endorsed candidates is not that they are "WP" (white pride/white power) but that they are anti-socialist and "die hard constitutionalist".
Doles believes that with a broader political movement on the basis of anti-leftism and American nationalism, white supporters can eventually be won to a "tribal" (i.e. explicitly racist) position.
When Doles held a far-Right rally in #DahlonegaGA on 9/14/19, anti-socialism was also a key theme.

A “Trojan Horse” is of course used to get people to drop their defenses.

The difference between American Patriots USA and militias or Proud Boys, is that APUSA is structured around a core of Doles and his longtime associates – white nationalists who have de facto control.
This is why we have used the language of “front group” for APUSA.

In return for helping APUSA, candidates may get a few meetings or events to speak to & some limited publicity.
Candidates also get to pretend that they're combating Antifa -- a badge of honor in some circles.
