#SomeGoodNews For Lisa my daughter seen here with service dog Cleo some good news has often come with the bad. Diagnosed last year with primary progressive MS compromising her immune system bad news is she had to cancel a trip to Disney World for husband’s birthday before it ... Image
... was closed because of coronavirus. But newer good news is she recently learned she could work her full time job as a sign language interpreter between hearing & deaf at home instead of at her call center potentially exposed to coronavirus. Likewise via Zoom as an ordained ...
... minister she can hold services for the two churches she serves on weekends. Older bad news was she went suddenly deaf at age 30. But good news is when she was student teaching to be a music teacher she took a bus trip with a H.S. from WV to FL & two deaf students who ...
... taught her some sign language which she kept up with even while a band director and later going to seminary. Coincidentally she was a pastor at a deaf church out of our hometown when she suddenly became deaf. Double Cochlear implants letting her hear again probably made...
... it easier to talk to and get to know her eventual husband Patrick there. As for Patrick he already had a below knee amputation. You can see in the photo my daughter has an above knee amputation but she didn’t then. Patrick gave up his job and moved away from his family...
... and friends was stressful and having more operations and not being able to work put stress on him because he wanted to work - but good news was he had my daughter to help and care for him. As for my daughter’s amputation she had nerve pain in her knee Hopkins and Mayo ...
... Clinic could not operate on w/o disabling leg added to fact leg already wasn’t working - eventually after year of pain unable to sleep she had leg removed. Good news is she had insurance - too many people don’t. Even at that at one point ins co denied a wheelchair claiming...
... she had two good legs despite fact same ins co had approved removal of leg. That got straightened out and Patrick who had been taken care of now got to take care of her. Don’t get me wrong it seems to me they fight too much and get their feelings hurt too easily but ...
... on the other hand both the spontaneous and deeply abiding love they have for each other makes me happy. Even if Cochlear implants had not worked for her ( they don’t for everybody ) she would have been able to continue as minister at the all deaf church where she was at the..
... time. I attended there once and they didn’t have a hearing interpreter for me. My daughter helped at a deaf/blind camp and I was amazed how she could sign into hands and also what some of the deaf blind could do - good news is we’ve come SO FAR since Heen Keller & so ...
... many people are willing to volunteer to help. As for her artificial leg - amazing - but with weight loss sometimes some hilarity when it fell off before socket replacements. Good news on the horizon for her is an osteopath - integrated socket that could be ( if it weren’t ...
... for coronavirus postponements ) inserted into a stell rod inserted in the bone in the thigh - so perfectly aligned easy to snap on and off compared to vacuum attachments around thigh. Previously reserved for soldiers with missing limbs but now FDA approved for civilians.
So, bad news for Lisa is no new socket until coronavirus threat to her compromised immune system. Bad news for Patrick and Lisa no special birthday trip to Walt Disney World again because of coronavirus. But good news is they have hope, and health, and each other.

@ksorbs Respectfully, good question. The answer at its heart is that government needs to print money for business and society to function combined with society and business needs government to function. But you’ve hit on something with why do YOU pay taxes if government can …
@ksorbs …print $. You pay everything - not just your taxes - with $. We’re not a barter society. If you bought a car with something more real than paper money or a personal check or a plastic card and paid with something more real what would it be? Corn? Chickens? Who would accept it?
@ksorbs “Printed money” especially United States printed money is just a promise government will back it but that promise is strongest in the world. I don’t follow you but your name and tweets appear in my timeline when one of my followers responds to you. We need taxes to help to …

@DanRather TFG admin reversed Obama era coal emission standards despite their own scientists saying that would result in 1400 more premature (virtually state aborted) a year. For what p? No new coal plants. Fewer jobs. Failing industry. Pollution kills people not just plants. Now TFG …
@DanRather … Federalist Society chosen alt right a Supreme Court judges ( one of them sitting in a seat stolen from Obama’s Garland ) have the audacity to suggest environmental decisions should be made by elected officials not “bureaucrats.” Three of them were appointed by TFG who lost …
@DanRather … popular vote one of them where Garland should have been put for Obama who won the popular vote. Regardless their decision does not address environment at all just process and powers of EPA literally tying EPA’s ( the experts ) hands behind their backs. Very similar argument…

This is long abandoned coal fired power plant near river where I fish. Why abandoned besides being old? My guess would be it simply could not compete with natural gas economically or in terms of environmental protection. What’s it got to do with today’s GOP Supreme Court …
… decision? This particular plant maybe nothing but plants like it polluted heavily causing injuries and deaths so Obama put in stricter coal emission standards. TFG admin rolled back these Obama era coal emission standards despite its own scientists saying that would lead …
… to 1400 more premature deaths per year - but TFG rolled back anyway and people out of sight died - not all were old and of course COVID causing more lung problems increased those numbers of deaths. Why? To “save” coal industry and jobs? No new coal plants. Fewer jobs.

1. Jake Tapper after saying not just republicans have used misinformation gave irrelevant misleading ( in my opinion ) example of misinformation case of cancer cure long ago widely believed to work that was just as ineffective as ivermectin for Covid. For one thing false hope …
2. … for cancer cure was not politicized. It was more just false hope for difficult problem. Tapper’s point was we should “blame” the spreaders of misinformation for politics or profit or control or whatever not the uninformed. In general good point but TFG saying if he shot …
3. … someone in the middle of Fifth Avenue his followers would still follow him is not about uninformed followers or “blame.” Shooting someone as he described is a crime and his followers - all of them I believe - know it is a crime. They ( followers of TFG ) are accomplices…

@SherylNYT @maureendowd Afghanistan situation now not about Obama or Trump or Biden but about “will” - not theirs - Dowd’s. We know their armed forces haven’t shown “will” to fight despite having means. Is Dowd suggesting Biden or America as a whole is Antoinetting AFGH interpreters and Americans in …
@SherylNYT @maureendowd … danger still there? I don’t know. The pay wall will not let me see. I don’t think Dowd can see either if that’s what she’s suggesting because of some kind of personal prejudice or politics. To me the Taliban is a danger to AFGH body politic as Covid is to our bodies. Trump …
@SherylNYT @maureendowd … more than underestimated a Covid saying it was no worse than flu and would go away in fifteen days true enough in some ways not unlike Biden guesstimating IF Taliban did take over it would take months and he had time. More than WWII’s combat deaths were caused by TFG …

Listening to acquaintances say Biden opened border & that’s where COVID is coming from & Florida’s doing fine with COVID & welfare people aren’t taking open jobs because they get “free” money more draining than the heat. Telling me facts I mention are not true is disappointing.
Disappointing because when I say they ARE true they respond “I don’t believe that.”
It was like flower after “alternate facts” flower opening in a MAGA garden of misinformation and outright lies taken as gospel. If I had hours and they would listen for hours I think they ...
... might get how outright wrong let alone stereotyped and lacking context what some of what they’re saying is. But their lock step story Pavlovian conditioned & accepted by millions albeit minority millions with “what abouts” out of context of subject at hand they’ve become ...
