Have a gander at Jeff Kowalski's pics of Michigan protests. They are much more interesting that the ones picked by editors. I always look at signs and how they are constructed, media positioning, themes etc. gettyimages.com/photos/jeff-ko…
The editors love Kowalski's "Taxi Driver" Armed Michigan Protester guy. As a manufacturer of gear, I question his choice of "Do You Even Beard" moral patch and then wearing a mask. amazon.com/You-Even-Beard…
Kowalski's Screamy Beardy Guy was the absolute winner with enough naif Nazi themes sprinkled around to fill up the frame. Freezing Hawaiian Potential Mass Shooter guy needs to get his shit together if he wants to be above the fold
Back to the Travis Bickle theme. These structured, telegraphed, fake protests that mimic violent images signal and channel mentally unstable people. And in both directions: "Government is under threat" and "Government is threatening us." Bickle was fictional but watch out.
So remember the key elements (can be combined for maximum sales). Fire, blood, screaming, nazi stuff and fucking horizontal crop. You can't give away verticals these days. Soiled teddy bears in foreground options.
