And I’m quarantined with a great person and a delightfully entertaining puppy, in a beautiful house. So, yeah - I can’t pretend to know what it’s like to not have those things. But I can tell you, 3 miles away my 40yo nephew is fighting for his life. Saturday night his heart 2/n
Stopped for an unknown length of time. He was revived, intubated and is in ICU. The cause: clotting issues related to COVID (he was briefly hospitalized w respiratory symptoms a couple weeks ago but seemed to have recovered just fine). Now, he’s unresponsive and
3/n and undergoing dialysis because his kidney function is zip. The dialysis may help him become responsive, or it may not. Today or tomorrow my brother and SIL may have to make the most heartbreaking decision a parent can: to take a child off life support.
4/n I know how hard that decision is, because I had to make it myself for one of my sons.
Here’s my message: If you’re one of those people who don’t believe ‘the media’, think this is all overblown, that we should #ReOpenAmerica despite lack of test and trace, cool.
