I wrote this weeks ago about the need for a US-led global coalition to coordinate the #COVID19 response. Since then, we have only led the world in spread of cases and deaths -- becoming the COVID19 epicenter. theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/…
I feel for these unnamed US officials trotted out today to claim the US is leading a global response. Repeating budget figures over a 20-year period and ad hoc support to NGOs is what you do when you have little to say.
Meanwhile, there's an international meeting today to coordinate development and mass distribution of a vaccine. The US for reasons the officials could not address refused to even participate. What happens when/if a vaccine is developed outside our borders?
