I've used the paradigm of "hierarchy v. fairness" to understand our current politics.
Hierarchy is all about winning. That's all that matters. Because the hierarchy people don't believe in fairness (they think both side are after power) they think cheating and lying are fine.

Because Trump's hardcore supporters applaud him for winning at any cost, they are unlikely to be swayed even if they learn from Trump's taxes that he takes money from dictators.
If "I don't care if you die" doesn't work, "I cheat" probably won't.

Don't get me wrong: I think it will make a dent.
If it causes him to lose one or two percentage points in the general election, that will make a huge difference.
But the idea that he will bleed massive amounts of support is not realistic.
