The coronavirus is the idiotic Y2K argument all over again.

Detractors claim the virus hasn't been nearly as bad as scientists said it would, because far fewer people died than the scary projections.

But that's BECAUSE everyone locked down. That changes the starting conditions.
And so we find ourselves in Y2K territory, where the dimwitted conventional wisdom is that it was all a huge unnecessary fuss because "nothing happened".

But nothing happened BECAUSE several million people spent years and over US$300 billion fixing the problem.
It's like somebody pointing out a fire, and shouting "we need to put it out or my house will burn down."

Then afterwards, the neighbour moans "you said your house would burn down, but actually I just saw a little smoke - why did you allow those fire engines to park on my lawn?"
