This isn’t a commentary on faith or the existence of a higher power. Jesus lived in a time similar to our own.

It’s a mini history lesson that reveals that political power in the hands of traditionally marginalized people is a threat to the established patriarchy.
It’s also a lesson that human rights can be removed, have been removed in the past, and require fierce protection at all times.

It took civilization 2000 years to reach this point after some of the same human rights we have now had been established by the Roman Empire.
The suppression and subsequent removal of significant human rights were the result of first century identity politics, the establishment of a hierarchical organized religious and social movement and beliefs and values similar to Dominionism. The wealthy ruled for 2000 years.
It’s no surprise or shock that those with wealth and power want to remove much of the social and political progress made over the last 2000 years.

Human rights are an existential threat to the rich and powerful.

Which is why they are crucial to our civilization’s survival.
After the collapse of the Roman Empire, the Dark Ages and about 1000 years of feudalism constrained any progress in human rights.

It wasn’t until another plague occurred, the Black Death, that progress could be pursued again.
The relationship between workers and property owners experienced a fundamental shift in power when workers were a scarce resource and had leverage to demand better conditions.

It took another 700 years for that leverage to produce current human rights.
Progress is slow. Especially when the masses do not have access to knowledge or rhe ability to exercise their own political power.

We are at a precipice in human history once again.

The choice is progress or regress.
How we choose to respond will determine our civilization’s fate for generations to come.

We are witnessing the collapse of the modern Roman Empire, the United States of America. The last time an Empire so powerful collapsed, was the end of the Ottoman Empire.
It’s been a century and the civil unrest is still pervasive in the Muslim world. Militant patriarchy has assumed power in the absence of a superpower to provide and enforce balance and social cohesion.
Patriarchy is rearing it’s ugly head again. Toppling progressive civilization. Imposing autocratic rule & removing human rights.

This truly is a pivot point in human history.

We either fight for western democracy or enter another Dark Age.

Progressives must unite or succumb.
