.@eNCA needs assistance to do its job at navigating the South African political landscape. Xoli &Jane got it wrong, had an excited moment based on warped opinion that put into question their political acumen. They appeared as thinking lazily etc. THIS IS NO REASON FOR SUSPENSION.
What's more curious is that eNCA has not put across its full version of events. Were the statements by the duo scripted or not? Their delivery was so neat, it does beg suspicion. Then someone in the editorial team saw it fit that they apologize yesterday. Who wasn't satisfied?
In just 3 days @eNCA has spiralled into an inexplicable position on WHO is in charge of their narrative?? No news broadcaster should find itself in so untenable a position. It affects credibility and trust in the broadcaster.
Surely we all get it wrong at some point. That isn't to say we must be censored but our views must be contended with& brought to scrutiny. I disagreed a lot with Peter Bruce's posture as a propagandist of the President but I wouldn't say he must be censored.
Once more, in just less than 5 months since the Kanthan Pillay saga, @eNCA finds itself at a crossroads. As I said in an Open Letter then to the organisation, the problem is much more embedded in their management structure& they need to SORT IT OUT.
The truth is that a failing @eNCA is not in the best interests of the country. We already have too thin a media in South Africa without broad diversity. SA media still struggles to have quality wall to wall national reach& crossover the borders. So the more houses the better.
Lastly, that Xoli and Jane pairing hasn't been working for a while. That's something management should itself fix. In fact their recruitment of Jane has just never worked, she's a misfit in a way. But let's see how @eNCA will once more attempt to redeem itself.
