No oversight or good intentions can replace effective regulation. Platforms should not make so many important decisions about free expression and safety on their own. #DigitalServicesAct
Decisions about fundamental rights and foundations of our society. Important we do not set up a parallel justice system for the part of our lives and society which take place online, on platforms. Which in these COVID-19 times seems to be most of our lives. #DigitalServicesAct
Advice often given is „Follow the money“… so how can Independent dispute settlement bodies be independent if they are financed by the platforms, which they should be adjudicating? #DigitalServicesAct #dsa
We do not finance our police of the speeding tickets, even though some cardrivers believe this to be the case, so how can we ensure independence if the agency and the dispute settlement bodies are financed by fines they collect?

Users should be able to choose content curation and advertisements. But how free is the choice if it is restricted to a buffet laid out by the platforms themselves? Curation choice should suit the user’s dreams and desires, be independent of platform. #DigitalServicesAct
On lock-in effect. Almost like gravity, increasingly difficult to free yourself as the platform grow. We need regulation to ensure users can make a free choice for presentation of data, network and interaction with other users. #DigitalServicesAct
