Most Democrats simply don't want to or cannot understand this
"Just beat Trump," they repeat endlessly. It would be like fighting WW2 but ignoring the ground troops, the SS, and the rest of the top leadership in favor of only targeting Hitler.
Your beloved McCain wanted to keep up Bush’s war in Iraq and joked — joked about taking away the right to an abortion. Everybody’s new friend Mitt Romney talked the same shit. But yeah Trump just came out of “nowhere” and defeating him will make it all good again. 😐
I sort of understand how people like FDR knew we’d eventually have to fight WW2 felt watching as a whole nation embraced isolationism. Except we’ve had multiple political Pear Harbors and the fleet is still just sitting there in the dock.
Beating Trump is kind of like the Doolittle raid. It will feel good, it’s a legitimate hit, but it’s really a speck in the scope of the entire war.
