I’m a big proponent of Dems being more aggressive and tougher but FDR beat Landon by 24. LBJ won by 23. Reagan beat Mondale by 18. The most idealistic scenario, Biden would beat Trump by 7-8. If he does win it’ll probably be 1-2.
There’s almost no way Trump gets lower than 40% of the vote and his floor is probably closer to 45%. He could murder someone with his bare hands on tv and still get 40%. That’s where the country is. For all the fecklessness of the Dems, they can’t change that.
This is partly why I keep pointing out these numbers. I can totally envision a scenario where Biden wins and Democrats rend their garments because “after all that, 48% of the country still went Trump.” It’s going to be around that even if everything goes great (unlikely).
