Two months ago, we had the lowest unemployment rate in 50 years.

Today, we have the highest unemployment rate in 80 years.
We officially have the worst unemployment rate in 80 years, but it’s probably even worse than that.

Why? Because back in the 1930s, lots of government workers (the ones on “work relief”) were still counted as unemployed! fraser.stlouisfed.org/files/docs/mel…
Our unemployment rate is officially 14.7%, but the BLS thinks they made a mistake counting a lot of people who don’t have a job right now as having one. It’ll probably get revised up to 20%.

Going by more accurate unemployment numbers, that’d be the highest level since 1933.
So we probably really have the highest unemployment rate in 87 years, not 80.
