‘Finally, a virus got me.’ Scientist who fought Ebola & HIV reflects on facing death from CV19

Without a CV19 vaccine, “we will never be able to live normally again
The only real exit strategy from this crisis is a vaccine that can be rolled out worldwide sciencemag.org/news/2020/05/f…
“That means producing billions of doses of it, which, in itself, is a huge challenge in terms of manufacturing logistics. And despite the efforts, it is still not even certain that developing a COVID-19 vaccine is possible.”

It happens to those that fight the disease too.
Who would not fear being put on a ventilator?

But here even those involved in researching pandemics cannot control their own care.

Knowing about a third of admitted patients die can’t help.

Much the same as Ebola.

He was discharged. But felt weak. He had tested negative.
Despite the -ve test the lingering effects of the virus, continuing breathlessness, resulted in a return visit to the hospital

That old cytokine storm trying to fight back and overplaying its hand

The virus for many that it does not kill leaves them with debilitating conditions
7 weeks from inception he begins to feel back to normal. Sort of.

That is quite a brutal illness.

Rolling out research and effective vaccines worldwide will need a lowering of political defences in favour of cooperation.

No bullshit.
