There were 4 J522 2-8-0 built Eveleigh Railway Workshops in 1893. These were grouped with the J131 in the Z28 class.
Referred to as " Native Bears "

The Js were withdrawn in 1915 but 6 were recalled to duty during WW1, fitted with superheaters and soldiered on to 1934. All scrapped by 1937. These were the first 2-8-0s for NSWGR.
