It's funny, because I sound like I'm championing Obama. I'm not. Having a plan for responding to a global pandemic, a widely predicted and feared risk, was just basic competency. One would expect any Administration, of either party, to have a game plan.
It would be like if China invaded Taiwan, or North Korea's regime imploded, and the NSC threw up its hands and said "Who could have seen this coming?" Nobody predicted it, and nobody was expected to, but everyone saw it as a possible risk to think about and prepare for.
Otherwise what are they even doing?
I mean, Trump trolled Obama over Ebola. So even he should have been dimly aware that the prospect of a pandemic was something to take seriously and gear up for, when China went into lockdown around Chinese New Year (late January). And I don't just mean canceling flights.
Basically, I'm just praising Obama for tying his shoelaces, which seems beyond this crew.
