US role has been the following:
- July 2017 end support for Syrian rebels so Iran and Russia can defeat them
-October 2017: after partnering with Kurdish Peshmerga, shift to give pro-Iran groups control of Kirkuk to isolate and weaken KRG

- January 2018: quietly encourage Turkey to take Afrin so as to force YPG to choose Syrian regime as US promises SDF “not another Afrin if you work for us in Raqqa”
- summer 2018: let ceasefire lapse in southern Syria so Assad-Iran Russia can conquer it

Spring 2019: end US stabilization and investment efforts in eastern Syria, isolating it and turning SDF into subcontractors to hold ISIS detainees

Summer 2019 : tell SDF to allow Turkish “safe zone” patrols and “security mechanism” and demolish all defenses

October 2019 : open door for Turkish and extremist invasion. Enabling Russia-Turkey deal to bring Syrian regime into eastern Syria. Order SDF to control ISIS detainees and guard oil.

Feb 2020: encourage Turkey to confront Syrian regime, refugee crises and Russia on M4 results

In the midst of it all put a bounty on PKK leaders, trying to test the SDF’s response, slam SDF for discussions with regime while also telling them that their future is with the Syrian regime...claim to end intel drone sharing whole Ankara launches airstrikes in Sinjar.
