We have filed a motion seeking a temporary restraining order on behalf of clients in their class action lawsuit over handling of the COVID-19 pandemic in #Oregon prisons. It would force ODOC & the governor to take action now as we move forward with our litigation and trial #orpol
The order would require the governor and the Department of Corrections to take every action within their power to reduce the risk the disease poses to incarcerated Oregonians. We believe that our plaintiffs will suffer immediate irreparable injury unless the TRO is issued.
To inform the court about what is happening inside Oregon's prisons during the pandemic, we have submitted dozens of declarations or witness statements from incarcerated people alongside our motion for a temporary restraining order.
People are describing getting sick but being afraid to seek medical help or get tested for the #coronavirus because they don't want to be put in isolation, be separated from their property, or shipped off to another facility w/ no certainty they will be able to return once well.
