Biological Warfare:
Is COVID-19 a weapon? What is our battle?
While the common man, as special and unique in themselves, is battling the horrible outbreak and epidemic of coronavirus – others buy shares and count stocks. #1
While they focus on marginalizing global strength, I see where the focus is of Corporate Social Responsibility in major businesses. #2
As there are COVID-19 warriors on-ground fighting for the lives of many and risking their own lives – even though the number of these warriors are still not enough, there are others subservient to the silent war of their unsafe homes. #3
While COVID-19 is the fronting warfare in which many lives across the globe are being lost, COVID-19 is being used as a weapon in which there are children in their homes fighting domestic violence, and child sexual abuse during the lockdown with nowhere else to go. #4
Vikas Puthran of Childline reported initially that in 10 days of the lock-down – between 20th to 31st Mar 2020 they saw a 50% increase from the typical period while in a year there are 9 Million calls. The focus is on addressing the problem not analyzing the data. #5
I can startlingly say that the battle is deeper, beyond COVID-19.
Too many lives are at risk as the result of this pandemic, affecting our future, by jeopardizing our youth simply due to the lack of awareness and the lack of the right language about child sexual abuse. #6
I am not a doctor, though I am aware that the fight against coronavirus is dependent on our immune system. Can our immune system cope? Some are fragile others stronger. #7
But what about the youth? To address the reality on children, Sakshi has developed a programme, called The Rakshin Project! Who better than the college NSS Volunteers to spread awareness about the prevention of child sexual abuse in their homes? #8
The next workforce, spreading The Rakshin Project nationwide, making home a safe space for every child.
1in2 children are sexually abused in India. Wouldn’t you want your children to be in a safe world and be educated with a rights-based language to prevent child sexual abuse?#9
If you want to be a part of the movement and make a difference, then become a ‘Rakshin’ – a preventor of child sexual abuse. The Rakshin Project is under the directive of The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports of India. #10
