Rather than just RT, I thought I’d give a quick intro to my good friend @nickynoo007’s thread by pointing out that in 1964 the Action committee of the USoE proclaimed that the European Community was open to all democratic countries of Europe “particularly Great Britain”. 
But even with the Action Committee talking about us with such reverence, there were still the memberstates to worry about. There were concerns about our commitment, and it doesn’t take much to work out that for Re-joiners this is a problem for the future.
Winning that trust back is not going to be easy or quick, and it’s going to involve many different people embracing and honouring their European values in many different ways.
