In response to the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the oil price fiscal shock, the Ekiti State Executive Council has approved a 27% reduction in the 2020 Budget from N124,724,869,335.95 to N91,128,996,482.01.

Below are the highlights:
▪️N66,557,958,763 billion, representing 62% of the budget is for recurrent expenditure, while N34,571,037,719.01 billion, representing 38% is for capital expenditure.

▪️Retainment of Salaries and pensions at 100%.

▪️Reduction of the overheads for 2020 by 50%.
▪️Reduction of grants to parastatals by 20%.

▪️Reduction of all capital expenditure to regenerative projects.

▪️Provision of funding for only regenerative projects.

▪️Completion of ongoing projects.

▪️Retainment of projects with external funding.
This revised 2020 budget conforms to the Fiscal Sustainability Plan (FSP) of the Federal Government.

In a bold and pioneering move to make Ekiti State the knowledge & innovation capital of Nigeria, Gov @kfayemi has signed an Executive Order reducing the Right of Way charges related to laying broadband or any other telecommunications infrastructures from N4,500 to N145 per meter.
Ekiti is the first state in Nigeria to comply with the NEC approved Right of Way charges for broadband thus becoming the cheapest state for broadband infrastructure investment as 1km of cable will now cost just N145,000 as against N4.5m previously.

REVIEWED EKITI STATE DIRECTIVES ON COVID-19

The current lockdown directive which ends today Monday April 27th is hereby extended for another six (6) days until 23:59 hours on Sunday May 3rd 2020. All conditions and exemptions remain in force during the extension. #COVID19
DUSK–TO-DAWN CURFEW: There shall now be a 6pm – 6am curfew every day of the week until further notice. No movement of vehicle or human traffic whatsoever allowed except for verified medical emergencies.
FRESH ORDERS: Starting from Monday May 4th 2020, business activities will resume for only 3 days a week (Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays) from the hours of 7am – 4 pm only, to allow the self-employed earn some income to feed their families & not wait solely on govt for palliatives.

... overnight on Friday April, 10 2020 suspectedly to take advantage of our free maternal health care in spite of the lockdown.

She presented at a State Comprehensive Primary Healthcare facility in active labour on Monday April 13, 2020.
After a prolonged labour with fatal distress, she was referred to a teaching hospital but decided to go to a private hospital instead. A caesarean section was performed on the patient and the baby was delivered safely. #COVID19
