Have seen multiple clips throughout lockdown about migrant citizens walking towards their home and being asked why they aren't taking buses/trains arranged by the govt.

They might not be able to word it, but it's very obvious why: They Don't Trust The Government.

1/n
The migrant citizens deal with govt on a more regular basis than the middle class and elite. They have seen how inefficient the systems are.

While a privileged bunch of citizens continue to be enamoured by one leader or another, migrant citizens look at the system warily.

2/n
This is not about any leader. It's about government as a whole. It's a shit system.

When someone is desperate, hungry and wanting to go back to their loved ones, the LAST thing they'll want to do in India is turn to any govt.

3/3
(And I've been calling migrant citizens 'migrant workers' till now, will try not to. As @RohanV correctly pointed out, the term 'migrant workers' implies these citizens are a human resource. They aren't. They're citizens with hopes, dreams and needs, not just workers.)
