Thread about 25 fruits/vegetables/herbs mentioned in the #Quran or #Hadith.

All of them can be found growing in the Quranic Park in #Dubai along with many others. It's a recommended visit.

1. Fig (‘Teen’)

“[I swear] by the FIG and the olive.”
(Qur’an 95:1)

2. Olive (‘Zait’)

“And a tree (OLIVE) that springs forth from Mount Sinai, that grows oil, and (it is a) relish for the eaters.”
(Qur’an 23:20)

3. Grapes (‘Inab’)

"By means of it We produce gardens of dates and GRAPES for you, in which there are many fruits for you and from which you eat.” (Qur’an 23:19)

4. Pomegranate (‘Rumman’)

"There in will be fruits and dates and POMEGRANATES.”
(Qur’an 55:68)

5. Date Palm (‘Nakhl’)

“With it He produces for you corn, olives, DATE PALM, grapes, and every kind of fruit: Verily in this is a Sign for those who give thought” (Qur’an 16:11).

6. Banana Tree (‘Talh’)

“And [BANANA] trees layered [with fruit].”
(Qur’an 56:29)

7. Watermelon (‘Bittikh’)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“The hotness of this substance (dates) neutralizes the coolness of that (WATERMELON).”
(Abu Dawud and Tirmidhi)

These were just starting to sprout.

8. Citrus (‘Utrujj’)

Lemons, oranges, limes etc all belong to the Citrus family. The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“The example of a believer, who recites the Qur’an and acts on it, is like an UTRUJJ (Citrus) which tastes nice and smells nice.”
(Bukhari)

9. Bitter Apple/Colocynth (‘Hanzal’)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“... And the example of a hypocrite who does not recite the Qur'an is like a Colocynth (BITTER APPLE) which tastes bitter and has a bad smell."
(Bukhari)

10. Cucumber (‘Qith-tha’)

“And [recall] when you said, ‘O Musa, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its CUCUMBERS and its garlic and its lentils and its onions…’"
(Qur’an 2:61)

11. Corn (‘Dhara’)

“The parable of those who spend their substance in the way of Allah is that of a grain of CORN: it grows seven ears, and each ear has a hundred grains…”
(Qur’an 2:261)

12. Mustard (‘Khardal’)

"O my son!" (said Luqman), "If there be (but) the weight of a MUSTARD-seed and it were (hidden) in a rock, or (anywhere) in the heavens or on earth, Allah will bring it forth…”
(Qur’an 31:16)

13. Toothbrush Shrub (‘Siwak’)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:,
“If it was not for the fact that I would be overburdening my community, I would have ordered them to use the toothstick (SIWAK) for every prayer.”
(Bukhari and Muslim)

14. Lentil (‘Adas’)

“And [recall] when you said, ‘O Musa, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its LENTILS and its onions…’"
(Qur’an 2:61)

15. Basil (‘Rayhan’)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said:
“...And the example of a hypocrite who recites the Qur'an is like a Raihana (sweet BASIL) which smells good but tastes bitter…”
(Bukhari)

16. Barley (‘Shaeer’)

When a family member of the Prophet (ﷺ) fell sick, it was ordered that BARLEY gruel should be prepared stating, “It removes the grief of the patients heart, removes its weakness as any of you removes the dirt from your face after washing it”.
(Ibn Maja)

17. Garlic (‘Thawm’)

“And [recall] when you said, ‘O Musa, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its GARLIC and its lentils and its onions…’"
(Qur’an 2:61)

18. Pumpkin (‘Yaqteen’)

Anas (r.a.) reported that “The Prophet (ﷺ) used to like PUMPKIN. He was brought some food and invited to eat. I picked up the pumpkin in the plate and put it before him because I knew he liked it.”
(Tirmidhi)

19. Senna

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “You should use SENNA and Sanoot as there is a cure in them from all kinds of diseases except death.
(Ibn Majah)

20. Onion (‘Basal’)

“And [recall] when you said, ‘O Musa, we can never endure one [kind of] food. So call upon your Lord to bring forth for us from the earth its green herbs and its cucumbers and its garlic and its lentils and its ONIONS…’"
(Qur’an 2:61)

21. Ginger (‘Zanjabeel’)

Ginger will be one of the drinks that will refresh the believers in paradise:
"And they will be given to drink there, a cup (of pure, drink) mixed with Zanjabeel (GINGER)"
(Qur’an 76:17)

22. Saffron (‘Za’fran’)

“Then he produced for them a calf, of SAFFRON hue, which gave forth a lowing sound. And they cried: This is your god and the god of Moses, but he hath forgotten.”
(Qur’an 20:88)

23. Palm tree (‘Nakhliyat’)

“And He it is who produces gardens (of vine), trellised and untrellised, and PALMS and seed-produce of which the fruits are of various sorts…”
(Qur’an 6:141)

24. Aloe Vera (‘Sabar’)

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “in two bitter things there is healing, ALOE and thuffa.”
(Kitab Al Marasil)

25. Henna

The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “The best thing that changes grey hair is HENNA or Khatam.” Meaning apply either of these.
(Bukhari, Ibn Majah and Ahmed)
