This is your daily pension announcement: The Pension War Room™️ is going commando! The "fair deal" AB separation panel has handed in a report. Can't wait...leaked excerpts will start appearing in @postmedianet papers any day. My lane is the CPP. #ABLeg

I hate governments that speak to their electorate through intentional leaks.

@jkenney is going hard for a APP. If you understand long term then you understand this is a bad idea. He believes that CPP contributions fly out of the province never to return.#ABLeg #handsoffmypension
In fact, his neo-liberal ideology has even framed these contributions as some kind of ransom payments. It is true that because AB has young, high earning (at least it used to be) workforce. They are net contributors to CPP> #ABLeg #dontpullout
Now, if AB were going to stay forever young with a wage premium over the rest of the country pulling out of CPP might make some sense.

BUT THAT IS NOT GOING TO HAPPEN.

AB will age, wage premiums will narrow or disappear with time and the influx of workers will stop. #ABLeg
So even if CPP saved a few dollars that saving would be gone in as little as 10 years. Then it would turn into a huge cost for AB. Canada's preeminent pension expert says it won't ever save a dime: #ABLeg #laughinghisassoff

@jackmintz, the favorite Rudy Giuliani cosplayer of the UCP, had this to say about costs,
On Nov 20, 2019:
"An APP could also potentially reduce administrative costs."
On Aug 12, 2015 about a similar Ontario plan:
"The plan will be expensive to administer."

So which is it Jack? Seems his opinion is different depending on the political party in power.
This is where Jack again tells us that making AIMCO bigger will not lead to any economies of scale.

And, that is only if you thought that AIMCO was up to the task. #ABLeg
Travis continues to run around saying AIMCO size will lead to cost savings when academic research shows exactly the opposite. As well as running his mouth with the just plain wrong "taxpayers on the hook for liabilities".

Joint sponsorship. Look it up. #ABLeg
BTW, 75% of defined benefit pension plans in Canada are jointly sponsored (versus traditional single sponsor). #ABLeg
