1) The Pillar is of Square plan called as “Brahma Kanta” Sthambha – representing the four heads of Brahma in four directions. The pillar edges are sculpted with pilasters (false pillars) called “Kudya Sthambha” with Ghata at the top.
2) The "Brahmna Kanta" pillar is topped by a capital called "Padma Kanta" – Graceful like Lotus bloom.
3) The most difficult is the “Danda-Chadya" or Eave (extended roof for protection from sun & rain) of this Mandapa.
The style is directly copied from the wooden roofs.

Its Easy to sculpt this Danda-Chadya design on wood but doing as it is on Hardest stone in the world – Granite is the most difficult thing, our ancestors have achieved.
These rafters carved on stone are called “Dharani (Beams/rafters of a roof)” because they bore the weight of roof & above elements like "Dharani" - The Earth.
