Ole's Risk vs Reward

Ole has consistently taken risky decisions knowing that's the only way to resurrect our club. But since his decisions work, the risk of it isn't apparent.

Hindsight is always 20/20, but Ole seems to have 20/20 vision too. Let me explain:

#MUFC
Let's start with his biggest risk - his recruitment policy

1. Focus on Youth
2. Focus on English Talent
3. Focus on Personality

He gets a lot of flak for this but all of his signings have been spot on so far and there's a reason they all work:
Ole has the experience of being in a dressing room that dominated the league consistently for over a decade. This is something not many managers can lay claim to. He has seen the work ethic, the team spirit & the personalities required to achieve such sustained long term success.
He's seen how SAF kept that intensity year in year out & is trying to build a side that has the mental grit to do just that. For that he needs 25 players who will put the club above their own ambitions, who will do anything for the badge & who would be loyal to the club for yrs.
But finding 25 such players will take time. And he was ready to risk the inconsistent results and fan backlash because he knows long term gain can only be achieved with some short term pain. Our recruiting policy is to find those 25 players.
Focus on youth means the ones coming in have something to prove. They're not here for a paycheck. They're here to make their mark in the universe. They'll be loyal to Utd for giving them that chance. And which better club than Utd to build your legacy?
He focuses on English players bcs the 20 yr old English players of today have seen Utd dominate for since the day they were born. They grew up dreaming of one day wearing our badge and now thay they've been given that opportunity they will go above and beyond for the club.
His emphasis on personality is bcs a winning team is built on that. No amount of talent can replace hardwork, determination and team ethics. He understands that for united to get back on top he will need to find strong willed individuals who will consistently put the team first.
That's why Ole will risk having a few holes in the squad as long as he can keep some a***holes out of it. No other manager will do that bcs most managers are looking out for their job and their CV. But Ole is ready to risk his career & image to get this club back on top.
But when you know the club as well as he does, all the risky decisions turn into masterstrokes. That's why he can bring in a 30 yr old ex PL striker on loan from China & he's an instant success. From the outside it looked like a huge risk, but Ole knows what works at this club.
That's why Bruno can come in & instantly become player of the month. Many said it's a risk as no other club wanted him. But Ole knows exactly what works at Utd & what doesn't. He can take decisions that look risky on the outside bcs he knows exactly what's needed on the inside.
Every mgr since SAF had their own style & was trying to fit Utd into that style. It doesn't work for a club our size. You can't ask Barca to drop possession play for long balls. It won't work. Ole is getting players who fit the club. Not trying to fit the club to the players.
When you look at our squad now, they share similar dreams & they want to help each other grow. They're humble, grounded, hard working. On the field, it's evident everyone's got each other's back. They're a team now & slowly they'll become a family. And then they'll start winning.
We've gotten here bcs of the risks Ole took. He left holes in the squad, invested in youth with not much experience, focused on players who loved the club instead of more proven options, he took the risk of inconsistent results & early fan backlash.
He knew someone had to take these risks if the club he loves, the club that gave him everything, is to get back on top. This selfless club first risk taking attitude is exactly what the club needed.

His risks will soon turn into rewards & I for one can't wait for that day. #MUFC
