Imagine watching Justice League and thinking: I want that but darker and four hours long.
We're also going to have to admit at some point that none of the DC films are good. Man of Steel is the kind of thing you'd make if you had decided that Superman would be improved by being more like Punisher. In other words: It is the work of a moron.
Batman vs Superman is the most godawful sacrilegious pile of shit I have ever been subjected to. It's a cultural abomination.
Even the ones we kind of think are good, really actually aren't. Shazam is piddling, 6/10 material at the very best.
Aquaman is only enjoyable by virtue of how vigorously out of control it is. It's good like your mate's dancing is good when he's off his face at 2am. Amusing maybe, but not dignified.
And then there's Wonder Woman. Full disclosure: I liked it the first time. Relief maybe that it was clearly in a higher category. But watch it again and all the problems become clear.
Like: Why. The Fuck. Does Diana spend a film being told by the male character what she can and cannot do? Why is that a thing that is happening in that movie.
And yeah, whatever, because he understands man's world. But that conceit doesn't even hold up. And even if it did: Why would it be done in this way? Would I watch a film involving Batman being constantly stopped by Alfred from doing his Batman thing? Would I fuck.
The honest truth about that film? The scene in the trenches is fucking amazing. Everything else in it is dreadful and actually quite embarrassing.
I'm more of a DC boy than a Marvel one, but they have fucked this shit up good and proper, right from the start, and there's precious little reason to think they'll improve.
Also, and this is completely unrelated, but I just had my first beer after two weeks off drinking.
