Audio was missing to start the meeting, but now Mayor Armstrong is asking for a moment's silence. He mentions that this is Paramedic's Appreciation Week.

Coun Fisher with the Land Acknowledgement.
No additions to the agenda, nor declarations of pecuniary interest.

BTW, Coun Gordijk doesn't have any video, so she is participating using audio only.

The previous meeting's minutes have been passed.
(There seems to be some background noise/voices from somewhere.)
Mayor Armstrong asks if there are any changes to the consent agenda.
Coun Pfenning has a question for clarification, which doesn't require that the item is removed from the consent agenda. This is about septic systems, and is directed at Harold O'Krafka (Director of Development Services).
Mr O'Krafka provides a response; Coun Pfenning has a follow up question.

Councillors have voted unanimously to pass the consent agenda.
For the first time ever in Wilmot, there is a delegation at a virtual council meeting. It is from Citizens For Safe Groundwater, who are addressing the Township's report: REPORT NO. DS 2020-09
Proposed Amendments to O.Reg 244/97
Aggregate Resources Act
(Details of the delegation's presentation and slides aren't included in this evening's agenda.)
The delegation - Samantha Lernout - is talking about vertical zoning.
Mayor Armstrong thanks Ms Lernout for her presentation.

Mr O'Krafka is now delivering his report on the Township's response to provincial changes to the Aggregate Resources Act.
Coun Hallman has a question for Mr O'Krafka with reference to Ms Lernout's presentation.

Recommendation to receive the report for information; passed.
Jeff Molenhuis (Director of Public Works) now gives a report about the Annual Concrete Sidewalk Program – Award of Contract to Vista Contracting Ltd.

Question from Coun Hallman: Says she's thrilled to see this report and the sidewalk project proceeding.
Recommendation: carried unanimously.
Mr Molenhuis with another report, re: Award of Contract – Utilities Service Vehicle.

Question from Coun Hallman asks how Mr Molenhuis's department is carrying on work as usual right now. He says this vehicle supports the work of the Utility Dept.
Recommendation is carried unanimously.
Next: Mr O'Krafka is talking about the Proposed Donation of Lands – Schmidt Estate.

Coun Fisher says he's very excited by the possibilities for this donated land.
Coun Pfenning says that she's also excited about future possibilities.

Recommendation: Council accept the generous donation of lands from the Schmidt Estate - Carried.
Next: RECOMMENDATION THAT By-laws 2020-14, 2020-15 and 2020-16 be read a first, second and third time and
finally passed in Open Council.

Carried unanimously.
Announcement from Coun Hallman: Thanks the New Dundee community for putting on the Dragon Run. She also acknowledges the 75th anniversary of the New Dundee bandshell. She adds that the public should stay tuned to social media with news about Canada Day.
Coun Pfenning echoes Coun Hallman's comments about the bandshell. She talks about the cancelled seasons at the Stratford Festival and the Community Players of New Hamburg.

She asks people to be patient and kind to each other and respect physical distancing recommendations.
Mayor Armstrong also acknowledges that events are being cancelled and recognizes the challenges they're facing.

He says that over 100 people have responded to the dog park survey that went live today.
Coun Gordijk: Says 100 Women decided to cancel it's May meeting, and she praises 100 Men for donating $14,000 to the Wilmot Family Resource Centre.
We're adjourned at 7:55pm.
