I feel like this week keeps getting darker and darker. so we need an appropriately grim drink. this one is another alleged hangover cure, but we're really doing it today because of its name: the corpse reviver
it was invented during prohibition as a way to help people feel better after drinking (illegally) all night. once again, this seems less like a strategy to cure a hangover and more like a strategy to get drunk again
I mean, it's right there in the name. if you're feeling like you've died, this will help. but like all zombie potions, the magic will run out at some point.

the punchline is that there is a whole *bunch* of corpse reviver recipes... no. 2, no. 3 and so on. an endless dark cycle
but anyway. this is indeed strong medicine, the only kind we need at the moment. it involves brandy, which you probably have, and calvados, which you might not. calvados is apple brandy, and we can work around that
the apple flavor isn't strong. so if you take some regular brandy and some apple juice concentrate, like maybe a 3-to-1 ratio, you can come within a mile or so of the right taste. hey, this is the wasteland. we improvise
so you take 2 oz of brandy, 2 oz of calvados (or our frankensteinian equivalent) and 1 oz of sweet vermouth, and put them in a shaker with some ice. shake them, as you do, real good
strain into a coupe, garnish with a lemon twist and do that voodoo that you do so well. or just get hammered. it's 2020, whatever works.

that's today's apocalypse bartending. bottoms up, and I'll see you on the other side. Image
