Here is the thing cops do not understand. The more they defend their murdering colleagues, the less people trust and respect the police. I won't call the police if I see someone doing something like stealing a car or breaking a window. That does not merit the death penalty, &
I do not trust the police not to turn a misdemeanor into a capital crime by killing someone. I do not trust the police to tell the truth. If I were on a jury, I would not believe the testimony of the police because they lie and lie with impunity.
I think police are the least credible members of society outside the Trump administration. They have ZERO credibility with me. When James Chasse was murdered by police, they ALL testified to a lie that was only revealed when a recording was leaked about the booking.
We the police punished for perjuring themselves? No, but they quit recording bookings so the next time they lie they won't get caught. Police lie. And because people who think they are good cops stand by silently and allow the liars and murderers to operate without consequence,
I do not trust a single police officer and I am white. If police malfeasance, thuggery, violence, and lying have convinced this white woman they are unworthy of any trust and have no credibility, I do not doubt that many BIPOC feel the same way.
The thing is, people say there are good cops. But are they good? What is good about standing by silently? What is good about not speaking up? What is good about letting it continue? If you're doing nothing about bad cops, you're not a good cop.
