My 1st reporting job was at The Middle East Times (now defunct) I’m 1990. An article I wrote about domestic violence in Egypt got the paper banned. The censor said I had fabricated a quote from a judge who had asked a woman “What did you do to make your husband beat you?”
I got the quote and much of the information from a report issued by a government-run Institute. The paper was banned because I had exposed and embarrassed the system as the misogynist one it was and still is.
