today i have my first real & full session of emdr therapy. i can never remember the letters ‘emdr’ & always say ‘epmd’ so i save these appts as epmd concerts & it makes me giggle
im really scared. im trying to figure out which traumatic experience to start with and i can barely muster to strength to think abt them enough to pick one. like i repressed them for a reason lol
but i want out from under whatever invisible blanket im still under. ive figured im healed from it all bc i dont think abt it everyday but if im to be honest, i see ways that those traumas influence my actions & thusly still impact my life

getting better is like putting a grain of sand in a big glass bucket every time you try to better yourself. no matter what you do, if you are doing something, a grain of sand is going in that glass bucket everytime
even if youre just thinking about doing that thing you need to do, daydreaming about the person you want to be, that is trying. you're prepping and priming and transforming your brain, grain by grain. problem is grains are small as fuck & that bucket can look the same for years
but everytime you try, whatever trying looks like--planning or praying or taking that first step or doing 1 more push up than you did yesterday--there's a grain of sand going in that bucket. its torturous that you can how much is in there bc you can also see how much isnt

therapist blew my mind again today by asking me to be ~nice~ to the negative voice in my head

i said..
so naturally im like okay but y tho?

and she's like well, what is the voice telling you re: the particular sitch we were talking abt

and im like you know the usual, dont get used to feeling good, everything can come crashing down at any minute, are you sure you can do this etc
so why on earth would i be nice to this hoe? she always in my business and makes everyday really effing hard, why shld i be kind to THAT bih?

then she asks why do you think that voice says what it says to you?

and i think abt it and say well i guess its... trying to protect me?
