This is revisionist nonsense. It’s true that widespread mask wearing in February likely would have significantly lowered transmission, but 1) Surgeon General, CDC, and WHO were advising against it at the time because of incorrect assumptions based on bad info from China.
2) There is no reason to believe that Trump wearing a mask would have led to widespread usage. Especially since the worst virus breakouts were in areas that are deep blue and aren’t known for following Trump’s lead.
Then Andy also tries to blame Trump for the diastrious nursing home situation which was overwhelmingly cause by a few blue state Governors (PA, MI, NY, NJ etc) forcing those homes to accept Covid-19 patients.
Trump has things to answer for (downplaying virus, FDA failures etc), but it’s telling that Andy and others have to resort to ridiculous and fantastical rewrites of history to shift blame and avoid holding their political allies accountable for their errors.
Also worth noting that Andy's own record throughout this whole saga has been awful.

Right. And the thing is that there was no way Obama, like Trump, could have known that the assumptions about mask effectiveness and shortages were wrong at the time. But Andy wants to pretend one of them should have known.
