THREAD: #Geolocation of images taken indoors is infinitely more difficult than geolocating those taken outside, but there are still some resources that can help. Time for some real #OSINT nerdery looking at how plug sockets can help with geolocating an indoor image...
There are 14 different types of plug socket in use around the world. They are categorised from A to N:
Some are very common, being used in a wide range of countries. One legacy of Britain's past is that many former colonies still use the same plug socket as mainland UK (Type G, in case you didn't know...)

So if you see a plug like that in an image, you can be sure it's in a location that was a British territory at some point.

Germany on the other hand uses Type C and Type F, but these are common in a wide range of other countries too:
The more unique a plug design is, the more sure you can be about the country. Plug Type N is exclusive to Brazil and South Africa:

And Israel uses a plug design that no other country uses (Type H). So if you see this little detail in an image, you can be certain it was taken in that country, although the design is being replaced as time goes by.

None of these plugs would be a magic solution to identify a country (except perhaps the Israeli one) but they could at least help to narrow down the possibilities, when dealing with indoor imagery.
