In some ways, a riot and a burnt down police station is the peaceful alternative. If you push people long enough they might move from buildings unto you. They could have easily overrun the killer cop's home but they chose not to. They could easily overrun the Whitehouse too.
The "keep it peaceful!" narrative is planted into the population and to an extent is a medium of civil decorum in a society where your voice will be heard and life respected, but when society stops listening or respecting you then the obvious alternative is loud and violent.
You can't expect people to peacefully accept their own genocide. They already got you to accept that you have to peacefully oppose school shootings, mass unemployment, and 100,000 dead from COVID19. The Minneapolis riots are just one reaction in a system that deserves more riots.
