When police violence takes the life of a beautiful, innocent black man, woman, or child, we also know:

140 million Americans are poor & low-income & thousands are dying every year

80 mil are uninsured or underinsured & thousands are dying

62 mil make less than a living wage
Indeed, we must cry, “Get off our necks!”

Thanks to the family of George Floyd & Rev. Sharpton for this declaration.
We need sweeping changes. The long train of abuses demand it. Too many deaths demand it. And the protests demand it.

Well, the Lord is at work! People are losing their fear. We are seeing a political Pentecost. There's no going back! Modern-day Herod made a mistake & tried to stifle free speech & protest & the people breathing justice into our society.
Trump learned you can’t just tell people to go home in their own land. This land is your land, and this land is my land! So the people of every race, creed, color & sexuality said, in an act of collective mass nonviolent civil disobedience, NO! And you can’t lock them ALL up.

.@AprilDRyan We are organizing poor & low-income people of every race, creed, color & sexuality all over the nation to shift the narrative & build power to vote w/ everything we have. This is where all of our attention is.
We haven't been asked, but if I were asked, here’s what I would say: The meeting must be diverse: my #PoorPeoplesCampaign co-chair @liztheo, diverse clergy & at least 3 impacted persons who we see as leaders.
The meeting should be moved offsite to a church in a community impacted by poverty & systemic racism. The entire meeting must be open to the press. No opening photo op & the rest is closed.
