I am exhausted. This is my constant state. Despite my influence and achievements I know that I don't have the privilege to always plainly say what I want to say when I want to. For some folks this is confusing but let me make something very clear 1/7
I am a black woman who holds a leadership position in an organization that primarily serves black and brown people. I recognize the rarity and importance of this position 2/7
Plz don't always look for me to lend my voice to conversations like this as I am constantly processing trauma. I am doing what I can within the scope of influence that I have 3/7
However, so that we are clear, I will say is this: #BLACKLIVESMATTER. And I implore folks to deeply examine themselves and the institutions/corporations that they occupy and determine if this is true 4/7
Dear "Diversity and Inclusion" champions. Do not dilute the necessity of calling out "ANTI-BLACK" racism with blanket calls to "unity” “ending racism" or "promoting inclusion". It's counterproductive when the clear issue at hand right now is centered on BLACK people 5/7
Additionally, please do not ignore the disparity and the systemic roots of injustice that contribute to everything we see. Being outraged is valid but use that zeal to do the real work. Actively invest in communities and hold folks accountable. Do the work. 6/7
